My grandpa is gone...
My grandpa passed away. It wasn't a shock or anything (not a total one at least), he’s been in and out of the hospital for a while ever since his mild stroke (everything went downhill after that), but I don't think one can ever really be ready for something like this happening.

What really sucks is the timing. We were supposed to have a sort of family reunion this month so this is just devastating for everyone. My grandpa was a kind man, and it was a joy taking care of him… he was NEVER crabby despite his condition... I will miss him dearly.

About the only good thing that happened this week was Italy winning the World Cup. I know it's kinda shallow, but having something to smile about (however small a thing) made me feel a lil better.

I am so sorry for your loss, sweetie. My heart goes out to you, as I know a bit how you feel. My own Pawpaw passed away about six weeks ago. *hugs*

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's sad that he passed away so close to the time of your family reunion, but that will be a good time for everyone in your family to retell fond stories about your grandfather and celebrate his life.

You're family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I feel for you because that's the exact thing that happened to my grandmother before she died (in and out of hospitals after a massive stroke). It's hard seeing someone you love go through that. However, I don't know how religious you are, but just remember, they're in a better place now.

I wouldn't call myself very religious, I'm RC by birth, though I don't go to church all that often. I do believe however that my grandpa is in a much better place, and that gives me a lot of comfort.
